Sheldon is a native of Boston, MA and received her Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies and Art History from Washington University and her Master of Divinity degree from Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, MO. in 1974. She was ordained November 10, 1974 at St. Paul UCC in Belleville and has served congregations in Missouri and Southern Illinois. She has recently served as Associate Conference Minister in the Missouri Mid-South Conference. Rev. Culver is a life-long member of the United Church of Christ.
