ISC Mission Statement

The Mission of the Illinois South Conference of the United Church of Christ is, with the whole church, to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

The conference carries out its mission by:

  • Being a covenant partner with local churches, enhancing their ability to participate in stewardship, fellowship, service in caring says, and in the continuing struggle for justice and peace.
  • Strengthening the local church in its Christian faith and life through evangelism, education, accent on the family, fellowship among congregations, and ecumenical relationships.
  • Sustaining clergy and lay leadership through fellowship, education, support and crisis intervention.
  • Enabling and enhancing the churches' vocation, through channeling of information, education and promotion of stewardship; directing resources to specific ministries.

  • The Conference is a community of faith engaged in the nurture of churches and their leaders, serving in the name of Jesus Christ. It is to be the expression of the United Church of Christ in southern Illinois, and is to reflect and relate the nature and character of the local church to the denomination, and to relate the church's denominational and national character to the local church.
